Rewind is back in the water!!!
Hi all,
I am very happy to announce that Rewind has a new bottom paint, new racing flush seacocks and a new saildrive transmission!
After a long time waiting for the new Saildrive, the new parts arrived and were replaced last Saturday. Mr. Kao and William offered their precious help for this simple, yet complicated operation. We had to move the engine out of it's position, remove the old saildrive, install the new saildrive and re-position the engine (we also changed the engine rubber mounts at the same time). Everything was done in a day!
The crane operator arrived at 1:00 pm on Sunday and we lifted Rewind from the cradle. I sanded and applied the new antifouling under the keel as well as the 6 spots where the cradle came in contact with the boat. Rewind was then lowered back in the Shing-Da Harbor around 3:00pm and we went out for a sea-trial to make sure everything work properly. It was great to finally get the boat up to speed under engine power.
I am going to clean-up the mess this weekend and get Rewind race-ready in the next couple weeks. I am planning a 5 day trip to Penghu between 7/21 and 7/26 where we will see if she's ready for offshore racing!
I am very happy and looking forward to start racing again!
Cheers,
Marc

UK Halsey Sailmakers - Taiwan
Taiwan sailboat owners and racers!
I am pleased to announce that I will be your agent in Taiwan for UK Halsey Sailmakers - Hong Kong Loft.
See the UK Halsey website for complete product line and details: http://www.ukhalsey.com/lofts/hk/
You can contact me directly for new sails quotes, orders as well as repairs:
e-mail: uk.sailmakers.tw@gmail.com
Used sails must be inspected and maintained regularly to ensure your safety at sea as well as to preserve their maximum performance and life expectancy. Your sails are the engine of your boat and should be looked after by a professional sailmaker.
If your boat sails haven't been looked after in the last couple years or start showing sings of wear & tear, they should to be inspected and maintained. You now have a chance to get this done, in Taiwan, through our UK Halsey-HK winter sail-care program:
- We will collect your sails at the end of October and organize a group shipment to the Hong Kong loft;
- The sails will be inspected and repaired as needed by our UK Halsey professional sailmakers;
- The sails will be labeled and returned to Taiwan in a group shipment. We will organize the sail distribution so you get your sails back before the sailing / racing season starts;
- The benefit from this program are to avoid the expensive shipping fees from Taiwan to Hong Kong and back while taking advantage of our manufacturing downtimes that allow us to spend more time looking and caring after your sails.
If you require any information about UK Halsey products, repairs or the Winter Sail-Care program, just drop me an e-mail:uk.sailmakers.tw@gmail.com
Thanks and regards,
Marc
